PACIFIC Islands Club Saipan, an ocean-front resort just minutes away from Francisco C. Ada/Saipan International Airport, is back in business.
This tropical getaway, complete with beach activities, a water park, and a variety of dining options, is a popular destination for travelers and residents alike.
Amid the still raging Covid-19 pandemic, as the Commonwealth was tackling the virus on the homefront, PIC Saipan has been utilized as a hybrid quarantine site and, most recently, solely a quarantine site, aiding in the CNMI Covid-19 response.
Now, with the vaccination rate in the CNMI at an all-time high, the all-inclusive resort has reopened its doors to the local and global community, ready and ecstatic to bring back its wide array of attractions and amenities.
In an interview with Variety on Sunday, general manager Dennis Seo, who has been a part of PIC Saipan’s growth for many years, shared that he was excited to see things pick up again at the resort.
“Things are picking up. We are back to regular hotel operations and we are ready and excited to welcome back our local community as well as visitors to the island,” he said.
Seo said that there are plans in the works to expand the resort, to further cater to their patrons.
Just this past weekend, locals and visitors traversed all that the charming resort has to offer.
Whether it was a family enjoying a weekend getaway, a couple enjoying quality time over a delicious meal, friends gathering for a celebration, or single individuals relishing in some much-needed downtime, PIC Saipan was filled with vivacity, garnering raving reviews from its patrons.
One couple in particular shared that initially, they were hesitant to bring their children to the resort, considering the ongoing pandemic.
However, they were encouraged after hearing from close family members and friends of their firsthand experiences, and decided to take a much-needed and long overdue family staycation.
The family of five said they enjoyed their time at the resort, with the youngest member of their family, a four-year-old boy, especially fond of the buffet and the swimming pools.
The unplanned hiatus caused by the pandemic has faded into the past, replaced with a present bolt of energy, like the flip of a switch that brings a carnival ride to life.
Right upon entry into the lobby, a monitor checks an individual’s body temperature while simultaneously dispensing hand sanitizer for the health and safety of the resort’s patrons.
The front desk staff greet guests with a smile, behind a plexiglass barricade, welcoming back returning guests and guiding first-time visitors to all that the place has to offer, including complimentary Wi-Fi.
Metallic rose gold energy-saving elevators offer a 21st century experience with an anti-virus handrail, anti-bug space, CCTV camera, buttons that can be deselected if a patron accidentally presses the wrong floor level, a miniature TV screen showcasing the resort’s attractions, as well as a section for posted announcements.
The long hallways lead to different areas of the resort, either to the guest rooms, attractions, or lobby.
PIC Saipan offers a variety of 300 rooms for guests, including its renowned Flame Tree Suite, Hibiscus Suite, Tasi Oceanfront Spa, Tasi Oceanfront Room, Deluxe Room, Superior Room, and Siheky Room.
The luxury suites offer incredible views of the sunset that can be seen from either their private, furnished balcony, their king-sized bedrooms, or living room areas.
The Tasi Oceanfront Spa offers a private outdoor spa, a seaside terrace, and a spacious room with breathtaking views of the natural island beauty.
As for the Tasi Oceanfront Room, it comes with two full-sized beds or one king bed and a futon couch.
The Deluxe Room faces the waterpark, complete with either a king-sized bed or two full-sized beds, a futon couch, slip-on bathrobe, handmade wood furnishings, and beautiful décor.
Then there is the Superior Room, offering a scenic view of Saipan’s mountainside, comfortable beds, and a couch.
Kids have the opportunity to sleep in the iconic Siheky Room, named after the beloved PIC Saipan mascot, complete with kid-friendly furnishings.
All of the rooms have picturesque bathrooms with sanitized toilets that are sealed before first use, complimentary hygienic items, towels, and some nifty devices such as a retractable clothesline in the shower, and a Conair hairdryer.
These air-conditioned sanitized rooms also have custom sliding door windows and blinds, adequate closet space, widescreen TVs, a desk and desk chair, a safe, refrigerator, coffee pot, electric kettle, and complimentary drink items.
The resort is also mindful to be compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act, ensuring that all of their patrons have a smooth visit throughout the resort.
PIC Saipan features fun for all ages and backgrounds, taking pride in its prime location and long-established history with the local and global community.
It offers a gift shop, fitness center, laundry room, four tennis courts, a basketball court, a beach volleyball court, an archery range, cozy golf range, mini golf range for kids, a rock-climbing wall, a swing set, pool tables, ping-pong tables, foosball, and its iconic Kids Club and Siheky Playhouse.
Whether on the ground or airborne, it is hard to miss the resort’s massive waterpark, featuring waterslides and pools of various shapes and sizes, including the Siheky Pool for kids, the Lazy River for a more relaxed experience, the Point Break bodysurfing wave machine, a lap pool, and its biggest attraction: the over 60-feet-long waterslide.
Making the most of its seaside location, PIC Saipan also offers ocean activities, such as sailing, snorkeling, paddleboarding, and windsurfing.
All activities and lessons are free of charge for in-house guests and day guests.
At high noon and in the late afternoon, PIC Saipan clubmates gather poolside for the signature Siheky Jingle, entertaining and further connecting with guests through song and dance.
Nightly entertainment is also offered, including a live band on certain nights of the week.
Patrons can choose from a selection of dining options at the resort, from Sunday brunch buffet at the Magellan, American bistro-style cuisine at The Galley, dinner at Seaside Grill, oceanfront eatery at Beachside BBQ, drinks at the Buoy Bar, and its newest restaurant, Isla, which offers savory and delectable Japanese cuisine and teppanyaki.
More promotions are on the horizon as the resort earnestly works to further cater to its wide patron demographic.
“Come and visit us. Bring your family. We are right here, ready to serve you,” said general manager Seo.
