Kathryn Hodgson, vice president and secretary of Hodgson Enterprises Inc., told the Variety she found it hard to believe she was Saipan’s winner in the Pacific Island-wide Anchor Milk’s promotion.
“I’m very happy because this is really unexpected,” Hodgson said. She said her husband James loves to drink milk.
“We tried other kinds of milk but my husband will only drink Anchor milk, and every time I bought milk which is about four to five boxes a week, I entered the contest,” Hodgson said.
She said she gladly recommends using Anchor products even if she did not win the promotion.
Hodgson’s NZ$10,000, or over $8,000, family pack prize includes one inflatable boat with motor, five life jackets, one canopy, one BBQ grill with gas bottle, three Nokia mobile phones, five fishing rods and reels, one Anchor chilly bin, five snorkel, mask and flipper sets, one Anchor rugby ball, one Anchor soccer ball, one beach volleyball set, two beach cricket sets, five boogie boards, five deluxe foldable picnic chairs, three colorful kites and five Anchor baseball caps.
The Hodgson couple have been living on Saipan for years now and have 40 years of experience in many businesses including Hodgson Enterprises Inc. which specializes in consulting and research to help businesses improve their bottomline in business technology, corporate finance, marketing and sales, organization, operations, and strategy.
Micronesian Brokers Inc., under its general manager Francisco A. Barja, launched the “Win the Great Family Outdoors” contest here on February 27 and it ran until April 30.
Customers had a chance to win major prizes simply by buying any regular or lite Anchor Milk with the promo pack, and sending their entries by emailing personal details and digits from the milk carton barcode to [email protected], sending in the barcode of the Anchor milk to Anchor Family Fun in Auckland, New Zealand, or dropping entry forms in the designated boxes in the island’s major retail stores and outlets.
The grand draw was held on May 9, 2011 in New Zealand.
Micronesian Brokers Inc. said they sent out over 8,000 entries that they collected from drop boxes in stores and outlets to New Zealand.
The entries did not include those that customers sent through email.
Saipan is just one of the Pacific markets that participated in the promotion. Anchor picked one winner from each of the other markets including New Caledonia, Tahiti, Fiji, Papua New Guinea, Vanuatu, Cook Islands, Guam, Tonga, Samoa and Solomon Islands.
