A request for pedestrian markings at bus stops along main roads

HAFA Adai yan Tirow DPW Secretary Ray N. Yumul!

I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing to emphasize the urgent need for pedestrian safety improvements at bus stops along the main roads of Saipan, particularly for the well-being of our students and other vulnerable pedestrians.

Recently, my staff conducted an assessment of these bus stops. Our assessment revealed that several stops lack sufficient pedestrian markings, creating safety risks for the many individuals — especially schoolchildren — who rely on these locations for public transportation daily.

Given the high volume of student commuters and the critical importance of their safety, we respectfully request the installation of pedestrian markings at all bus stops lacking these essential safety features. Taking immediate action on this matter demonstrates our shared commitment to protecting our youth and fostering a safer community for all residents and visitors.

Thank you for your attention to this important issue.  Should you require additional information or further assistance, please feel free to contact our office at your earliest convenience.

Sincerely,

RAMON B. CAMACHO

Mayor of Saipan
