I AM writing to wholeheartedly express my support for Rep. Edwin Propst for the CNMI’s Delegate in U.S. Congress. His candidacy is a testament to his tireless commitment toward public service and integrity, qualities that have greatly benefited our community throughout his distinguished career.
I have personally known Edwin for most of my life, and he is like a brother to me. This deep personal connection allows me to witness firsthand his genuine dedication and compassion for our community.
Edwin has served as a member of the CNMI House of Representatives with dedication and distinction. First elected in 2014, he has consistently been a top vote-getter, reflecting the trust and confidence the people have in his leadership. Currently serving as the Floor Leader of the House, Edwin’s roles have equipped him with the skills to collaborate effectively with colleagues and address vital issues such as education, healthcare, and the economy.
Throughout his time in office, Edwin has stood by our side during challenging times. Together, we have rebuilt after super typhoons, navigated a global pandemic, and tackled corruption. He has voluntarily gone house to house after each major storm, assisting those impacted without seeking personal recognition. This humility and genuine care for others are qualities that we need in our leaders.
Most importantly, Edwin has been a courageous advocate in the fight against public corruption. Oftentimes, he has been one of but a few voices willing to stand up against those in power who are not accustomed to being challenged. His commitment to transparency and accountability has often resulted in personal attacks and vilification from those threatened by his resolve. This willingness to confront difficult issues head-on showcases his extraordinary courage and unwavering dedication to serving our community.
Edwin is strongly endorsed by a majority of his colleagues from both parties, as well as independents. That support represents his ability to reach across the aisle to get things done, something he will have to do in Washington, D.C. He has also earned the support of Gov. Arnold Palacios, Lt. Gov. David Apatang, and outgoing Delegate Gregorio “Kilili” Sablan. This widespread backing underscores his capability and readiness to represent us at the national level. I truly believe that a unified voice coming from our islands will achieve more for our community in Congress.
As an individual who cares deeply for these islands, I am fully confident that Edwin’s representation for us in Congress will bring about positive change for the CNMI.
