Letter to the Editor: Clarification

But I did note that there was another document, which CNMI’s non-voting delegate to the U.S. House of Representatives read into the Congressional Record.  I also thanked those involved in that effort.

In making lists, one always runs the risk of leaving out something or someone important, and I fell prey to that in my list of thank-yous.  I inadvertently overlooked a very critical name, that of Rep. Heinz Hofschneider, who introduced the resolution in my honor, kept it alive, honed its content, managed to garner the support of all but one of the rest of the House members, and finally, made the final presentation.  Please accept my most abject apologies!

I should, in the same vein, have thanked Congressman Gregorio “Kilili” Sablan, who not only read his commendation into the Record, but then held a brief ceremony upon his return to Saipan to present a framed version to me in person.  My apologies to him as well.

I should also have recognized long-time friend Ivan Propst, who initiated the whole thing on the local level, as Chailang Palacios had on the national level.

I trust this balances the scales.
