Letter to the Editor: CNMI economic sure cures

U.S. Citizenship Sales:  Given the propensity for many to despise Uncle Sam, both in the CNMI and elsewhere, perhaps the feds should collaborate with CNMI plan to sell to foreign nationals U.S. citizenship and passports now possessed by many who are displeased with Uncle Sam. Perhaps this trial CNMI program can be extended to the U.S. at large…for the many groups routinely clamoring for reparations of one sort or another (all preceded by dollar signs) for perceived wrongs…

Vehicle Taxation:  Say, oh, maybe $3,600 annually, to be levied on those privileged and ostensibly entitled to possession/use of CNMI gubment-funded vehicles, gas, ad nauseam, like CNMI gubment executives, legislators, and judges.  Exemptions, of course, for those using CNMI gubment-issue-bicycles, in lieu of gas guzzling, a/c blasting, quadphonically tuned SUVs…or maybe just tax CNMI-paid legislators/officials for pounds weighed in excess of medical norms…kind of epitomizing a “trim down or pay” philosophy both as to governmental expenditures and legislative girth…though Tina Sablan would likely then be the only CNMI legislator.
