OK Stanley, Froilan, time to explain this to you once more: basic math here. No money for MVA = no new tourists = no new money. Waiting for investors to miraculously FIND the CNMI = No new local industries = no new money. No new strategies for fixing/improving the economy = no new money. Increasing your salaries and funds = stupid, Building a new Casino (against the will of the People of the CNMI) = even more stupid.
You and your buddies on the Hill are responsible for the screwed up economy. Find a way to fix it or get out! OR, Let someone else get in there who actually cares for the CNMI and has the mental tools to fix it. You guys are collecting paychecks for doing nothing.
More casinos will not magically solve the economic problems that you and your Capital Hill buddies created. Folks aren’t really visiting the casinos we have in big enough numbers anyway. Saipan has too many EMPTY hotel rooms NOW — fill those rooms FIRST, before you even think of building another casino.
By the way, judging by the reaction of folks on the Variety’s comment page, Saipan doesn’t want a new casino. Only you two seem to want it. Why is that? Why are you pushing so hard for it when the folks who elected you say NO? We all know Stanley likes to gamble; he was seen in Vegas just last week. Do you guys have a deal working on the side for yourself? (There’s that 500 lb gorilla in the room again.)
Elementary Math for CNMI Politicians….. 1 + 1 = 2, 2 +1 = 3, and 3 – 0 = Froilan, Stanley and Uncle Ben standing around asking each other: “what do we do now???”
