On my first trip to Saipan, like all tourists, I had the chance to visit the Suicide Cliff area. When I arrived, I saw beautiful ocean views and a pristine piece of land. The last thing I would ever want to see would be a bulldozers clearing this beautiful piece of land.
I cannot comprehend how and why the local government would agree to put a homestead project on one of Saipan’s last untouched areas. I don’t even reside on Saipan and I am saddened by this.
One local in blog, Marianas Pride, echoes the questions I have inside of me. Why hasn’t the Marianas Visitors Authority said anything? Only a handful of individuals have come forth to speak out against this project. I urge all residents of the CNMI to come out in opposition of this project before further harm is done.
