Tourists rates have been declining, garment factories are shutting down and our local government is in a big deficit. So is it appropriate to say that there is “no need” for a marine monument?
I personally think that we the people of the CNMI should find ways to help out our struggling economy. I strongly agree that we should take this opportunity that is only going to be offered to us once in a life time. We should support the project because it is for a very good cause, protecting our ecosystem up in the northern waters. By supporting this good cause we will be entitled to many benefits. These benefits consist of income in revenue, jobs, free exposure to the world, additional tourist attractions and educational purposes. The local government won’t spend a dime. People will really see the CNMI in a better and brighter way. So please support the Marianas Trench National Marine Monument.
