The device that was set up is to monitor radiation via air (wind) coming into the CNMI.
My concern, however, are cargo ships and aircraft coming in or transiting from Japan.
Are the containers being decontaminated? Are the passengers being properly screened for radiation poisoning? Are the ships and aircraft landing into our ports free from radiation?
This is something that we should all be concerned about. Yes, we need our visitors and we sympathize with the people of Japan, but we should be concerned for our people as well.
I just hope that we do not overlook the facts that people and or equipment can carry this type and any other forms of poison into our safe zones.
Let’s keep our people and islands safe.
