Letter to the Editor: Saipanda

Just because it’s a rhymer, doesn’t mean it’s a primer!

Why don’t we have our own indigenous animals that we can develop into cuddly stuffed dolly dollies and tag it with Saipan-Tinian-Rota tail tags; then have all outlets sell it rather than just Duty Free reaping in on all the profits?

I wonder why didn’t MVA see to it that at least Joeten Enterprises, which is locally owned and operated, be given the opportunity. I know they would have came up with a much better way to promote our beautiful island than a dumb looking highly prostituted panda!

Congressman Reyes also believes that our local music and dances should be massaged, organized and sold to the world! We have a lot of original island wonders to offer to our tourists. Why do we have to be dancing Hawaiian and Tahitian hula hula boogey bop bop and say this is Saipan, when they are actually seeing Hawaiian dances and hearing Hawaiian songs? Duh!

Hello dude, and wow mamme, you know who you are!

Stop misrepresenting the beauty of our island setting through another island setting — it doesn’t commensurate to what I as the Colonel would say is cultural preservation.

Why don’t you start choreographing new kind of dances that could only be said to have originated from our islands. Don’t you think so? So please, no more mumus, ok?

In any case, let’s first stop the Panda from marrying Saipan, and then we will move to the other one.

Little by little, we can become like the way Palau is being exposed to the world. “Welcome to Saipan — one of the world’s most craved underwater cave diving spot”

Next topic, the CNMI is the most un-American America in all of America!

Everyone is talking about changes that we need, yet barely half of the 13,000 registered voters came out to vote! It is very elementary and it hurts my heart to see that many people can’t grasp that the privilege to vote is the most fundamental part of being a U.S. citizen. It is our only voice in our government. Do not neglect our children’s future by not voting for them. If you are tired of suffering, the best way to handle it is to vote for the best solution for our children. It doesn’t matter who, just so long as you vote and put in office who you think is best for our children.

We have to stop being Amerikanon Po asu! As the song goes, it goes on like that also if we don’t vote. Next year’s general election, we have to start all over again re-registering all those that did not vote in this election for the delegate. Can you imagine how much dollars in manhours will that cost our taxpayers again? Despensa yu’ lao pot fabot fan huyung ya en fan man bota gi duranten botasion.

By the way, don’t forget to vote for me “Colonel” Alexandro Sablan. I will be running for mayor, in my wheelchair. My platform is to take out public works from the Saipan mayor’s office and adopt strictly community work objectives.

Si Yu’us ma’ase. I saina en fan binendisi.

ALEXANDRO “The Colonel” SABLAN
