Letter to the Editor: Thank very much Mayor Tudela

It has always been my OBJECTIVE that the Chamorro language shall be best preserved through the recording of Chamorro musical collection of invaluable contributions from our Marianas artists of song crafters and pioneers.

October has been proclaimed by Mayor Tudela as the Arts and the Humanities Month. I will treat this month as so special to me as a fellow Chamorro lyricist and song crafter. So I now salute all my recording artists and musician colleagues for a job well done. I salute all my fellow Chamorro lyricists of before, now, and the future.  Our task is continuous, we cannot stop ever!

“Mas ki seha keke’yao-hao esta, sigi ha’ chumo’gue I che’cho’ miyo, sa’ mampos esti impottante para I famagu’on-ta todos”  Mas ki seha guaha na biahe na kulan makat ma akumple lao cho’chu’ esti na debi nahu guaha para hu chine’gue.

The Chamorro language preservation is a tremendous undertaking, but someone has got to do the job. I praise the Lord for all the Chamorro language lyricists and song crafters alike.

So please at least for the month of October follow the lead of Mayor Tudela and exalt your Chamorro language music makers. Pizza, McDonald’s, steak dinner, a six-pack will be greatly appreciated. But the most sincere Si Yu’us ma’asse will be most thanked for.

A warm Pugua Hafa Adai,

ALEXANDRO
