They changed it again a little over two months ago. Since they changed the meter I have been billed for 16,000 gallons and then again for 26,000 gallons of water. There is no way that I am using that much water. We have gone to CUC several times and complained about the excessive charges. We got no satisfaction from them.
Well, I finally said that enough is enough. So I figured out a way to read the meter myself. To my surprise the meter reading was only 12,750 gallons. Which should be just about right for the time that the meter has been in use. So where is CUC coming up with the figures that they are charging me for? I wish I knew. There is one thing for sure. I am not alone. Every time I go to customer service the place is full of people with water complaints. This has been going on for over two years. You would think that by now someone in the CUC administration would have figured out that they have major problem. The water division has wasted hundreds of thousands of dollars changing meters based on the meter readers’ claim that the meters are defective. Well, based on my experience I do not think that the meters are the problem. It seems to me that the problem is in the reading devices or the meter readers are not doing their job. It should not be that hard to figure out which is which.
But in the meantime I suggest that we all go to CUC and demand that they unlock the meters so that we can all read our own meters and see how our readings compare with the readings that CUC is coming up with.
Why is it that we can read our power meters, but we cannot read our water meters? What are they trying to hide from us?
Once again I have to say that it is time to stand up for your rights. You either stand up for what is right or you lose the right to stand up at all.
