Our homeland had been the center of attention nationwide through the halls of the U.S. Congress on concerns of labor abuses and of human rights violations and atrocities by some false human rights advocates which were partly the basis used to carry out a federal mandate controlling our Immigration system. Today the committee you chair is considering an oversight of the law supported by a majority members of Congress, your colleagues, on a 180-day delay of the implementation of U.S. Public Law 110-229 set for June 1, 2009.
Madame Chairwoman, this in itself is an outright mockery and contradictory to the actual intent and purpose of Public Law 110-229, especially to members of the U.S. Congress, your colleagues, who fully supported its intent. If billions of funding are appropriated financing the War on Terror, in Iraq and Afghanistan we see no reason why $96 million would be a problem to the Department of Homeland Security financing border security concerns in the Northern Marianas.
We personally witnessed the entire biased approach during consultations earlier in 2007 by your committee and the Department of the Interior prioritizing the plight of foreign guest workers in our homeland, completely ignoring the local U.S. citizens and residents who were victims of injustices from a long politicized and self-interest labor and immigration system dependent on cheap foreign labor.
The question is why would a strong advocate and supporter for improved labor and immigration reforms is now considering an oversight to further delay the implementation of Public law 110-229?
As taxpayers and United States citizens we would appreciate an explanation and clarification on this issue Madame Chairwoman.
As the economy is a global issue, our homeland’s economic problems are two-fold — self-interest and politicized. The cries to include the Russian and China markets will ultimately revert back in time to the very same reason our labor and immigration system is now being taken over by the United States government.
Your prompt response and cooperation on this matter will be greatly appreciated Madam Chairwoman.
Thank you and Hafa Adai.
