Letter to the Editor: When would you understand?

Gov. Ben Fitial is opposing the U.S. Immigration because when the takeover is in effect, you and your husband will have to return back leaving your children here because they are U.S. citizens and many others too and Governor Fitial doesn’t want this to happen.

Gradual phaseout will immediately take effect — no delays. Then there won’t be thousands and thousands of guest workers anymore perhaps ONLY A FEW would be kept because of their job categories.

Governor Fitial is fighting for the workers to be allowed to continue working, otherwise, our economy will belly-up if not already. Why is it so hard for you people to understand?

When federal immigration takes over, KAPUT, you and thousands of other guest workers will be returned home.

For the record, there are more guest workers with jobs in the CNMI than local workers who are U.S. citizens simply because we do not have the workforce and necessary skills. So stop bellyaching and accept the truth; you are a guest worker only. What right do you have as guest workers over local U.S. citizen workers?

U.S. federal immigration doesn’t see it your way — they also don’t spare local workers. This was from a forced decision made elsewhere.

I am in support of Governor Fitial, but personally, I would rather that federal immigration take over so our “handful” of U.S. citizens can have a better outlook in life, of being promoted or receiving your coveted higher salaries for their families. Ok lang? Salamat po.
