A toast to Kevin’s 5th year

KEVIN’S Prime Rib & Seafood at Aqua Resort Club marked its fifth anniversary on Thursday with a wine tasting event featuring Aniti, a locally branded “vin de pays” or country wine imported from France.

Aniti is also the Chamorro word for “spirit.”

According to Aqua Resort Club, “The spirits of the island’s ancestors who live on in every rock, every tree, every whisper of the wind — [are] calling on us to share our memories, tell our stories and lift our glasses to all who came before.”

The five varieties of Aniti — Chardonay, Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc, Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon — were paired with Executive Chef Inok Lee’s appetizers.

Aqua Resort Club General Manager Sachiko Gerrard expressed her appreciation to all who joined them in celebrating Kevin’s fifth anniversary.

Also present were Aqua Resort Club Food and Beverage Manager Neil Metran and Pacific Wines & Spirits’ Dan Matsuno who introduced the DOC or denominazione di origine controllata-category vin de pays, which will be exclusively sold and served at Aqua Resort Club and Kevin’s.

“I’ve been in the industry for a while now,” Matsuno said, “so I know a lot of wine makers, and a lot of champagne houses. I asked them if we could come up with five varieties of wine — Chardonnay, Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet and Shiraz — with a local brand name. And they know what I was talking about,” he added.

Aniti is bottled by FGVS in Quincie, France and imported by Pacific Wines & Spirits.
