Public Health Secretary Joseph Kevin Villagomez said in a press statement that the submitted photographs must depict the community, people, culture and the islands.
The health report is a data booklet produced biannually by the department and it is distributed to the community, partnering agencies within the CNMI, other Pacific Island jurisdiction and to the federal grantor agencies in the U.S.
“The selected works will be showcased in the report and each participant will be fully recognized for their contribution,” Villagomez said.
Creative images that can be submitted must depict the following themes: CNMI Community, Mother and Child, Women of the Marianas, Elders, Children of the Marianas, Clean Beaches/Environment, Landscape (Rota, Tinian, Saipan, CNMI-wide), Landmarks, Island Life, Disease/Illness, Death, and others.
Public Health program analyst Roxanne Diaz said the Health Data Report contains different sections and appropriate photographs are needed to be displayed in these sections which include Geography and Demography of the CNMI, Funding, Health Workforce, Hospital, Vital Statistics (Morbidity and Mortality), Non-Communicable Diseases, Communicable Diseases, Women’s Health, Children’s Health, Mental Health & Substance Abuse, Medical Referral, Medicaid, Medicare, Environmental Health and Emergency and Preparedness.
Submission criteria
Diaz said all photos must be accompanied by the name of the photographer, mailing address, e-mail address, phone number and title of the photograph.
Submitted photos must be original work and all entries will be donated and becomes the property of the Department of Public Health for use in the 2010 Health Report only. The contributors will be recognized but no monetary or in-kind compensation will be given.
Photographs need to be digitalized or scanned to be included in the report.
All entries can be e-mailed directly to [email protected] but photographers who cannot send their images electronically can contact Diaz for other arrangements.
