Enter the My Mom’s Story contest to win a great prize package for your mom

THE May 4 deadline to participate in Marianas Variety’s My Mom’s Story contest is fast approaching.

Variety is inviting all elementary, middle, and high school students to participate in the essay writing contest for the chance to win a special gift package for their mother.

Participants are asked to submit a creative and interesting story about their mom, in addition to a photo.

Last year’s winner in the high school division, Jacob Wang, told the story of how his mother took care of the family during the Covid-19 pandemic following the death of his father.

Submissions should be written clearly and should be no longer than 500 words.

Authors should include their name, age, school, grade and their mother’s name.

The competition judges will select winners based on the following criteria: creativity and originality, emotional impact, clarity and structure, and language and writing style.

Variety will select two winners from each division. The winning stories will be published in the May 9 edition of Variety.

Last year’s competition featured over 140 entries.

The prize package this year includes gifts from Herman’s Modern Bakery, Blackwood, Crowne Plaza and more.

According to Variety sales and marketing supervisor Hazel Sadian, this is a good opportunity to honor your mother on Mother’s Day, May 12.

“The chance to be featured in Marianas Variety and to win your mom a great prize package is a unique Mother’s Day gift that comes at no cost to the participants,” she said, encouraging CNMI students to send in entries. “500 words will be easy to write when you think of how much you love your mom. We look forward to reading your entries and giving away great prizes.”
