THE Saipan Falun Dafa Association held a series of events commemorating the 22nd anniversary of the persecution of Falun Dafa also known as Falun Gong that was initiated by the Chinese Communist Party, China’s sole governing party.
The series of events, which included a motorcade on July 16, 17 and 18, culminated in a candlelight memorial activity at the Falun Dafa Center in Garapan on the evening of July 20.
On July 19, Falun Dafa practitioners displayed banners at the San Jose intersection on Beach Road.
During the motorcade, “the scene was spectacular and peaceful,” said Catherine, a Falun Dafa practitioner. “The motorcade was like a rainbow and like a mighty teacher. Some people waved or gave us the thumbs-up sign,” she added.
Falun Dafa is a peaceful spiritual practice rooted in traditional Chinese culture, its proponents said.
Falun Dafa “consists of meditation exercises, and a moral philosophy centered on the values of truthfulness, compassion, and tolerance.”
All Falun Dafa activities, including classes and practices, are offered by volunteers and open to the public, free of charge.
Falun Dafa, which has over 100 million practitioners in 114 countries, is calling on the Chinese Communist Party to stop the persecution of the group.
