Saipan Mayor Ramon “RB” Jose Blas Camacho presented a plaque of recognition to Mary Ellen Taman, widow of the late Candido “Candy” Babauta Taman, in the presence of the Taman family, Gov. Arnold I. Palacios, and the mayor’s wife, Delia Maritita Camacho. Candy Taman was a local music legend and a member of the House of Representatives in the 15th Legislature. Mayor Camacho said he is forever grateful for the efforts of Candy Taman to preserve the Chamorro and Refaluwasch languages through song. The mayor also recognized the public service of Taman during his tenure in the 15th Legislature of the House of Representatives. “His contributions to the community and his wonderful and melodious voice will live on in the spirit of our islands for years to come,” the mayor said.
