AT a press conference Thursday for the Indigo Music Festival in the lobby of Crowne Plaza Resort, headliners Katchafire said expect a party come Friday, May 12.
“We feel super special to be able to come back and just be able to share our music on island,” said lead singer Logan Bell. “We have a lot of Pacific brothers and sisters from here that like them some Katchafire. We’re stoked to be able to come back and perform for you guys.”
Katchafire has performed on Saipan previously, with their last concert held over five years ago.
The New Zealand-based reggae band has decades’ worth of hits that started in the early 2000s. Bell said expect a mixed bag of their discography at the concert.
“We tailor made a show that we feel gets the party started and finishes it right. It’s a ‘best of’ party vibes from Katchafire,” said Bell.
Joining Katchafire on stage at the concert will be High Watah, from Hawaii, known for their smash hit Black Pearl.
The band said they feel excited and blessed to be on Saipan, where they will be performing for the first time.
Also performing at IMF is StraightUpJED, the Guam-based rapper, R&B artist, and songwriter.
“I’ve been to Saipan a bunch of times already, but this one feels a little different,” the artist shared. “I get to share the stage with some awesome performers. It feels great to be around people that enjoy music the same way I do. The set is going to be fun.”
IMF takes place Friday live at the Secret Garden of the Saipan Country Club, with the gate opening at 5 p.m.
