MEDLEY RAP for PIKA FEST – 02/13 &14/2026

Poetry by Joey Connolly

I had full intentions of reading this medley rap at 2024 Tinian Pika Fest
but three herniated discs in my lumbar region prevented that. It is
dedicated to todu taotao Tinian yan lokkue Mayor Edwin Aldan and
Mrs. Mayor Rosita King Aldan, former Tinian Mayor Joey P. San Nicolas
and his wife Connie Manglona San Nicolas, who are my former students.
I’m very proud of all my students, the paire, maolek, yan águaguat.
If you know the tunes sing the following pepper rap message out loud
during the upcoming Tinian Pika Fest yan lokkué, BIBA PIKA FEST!

Pika Fest Pepper Parody Medley Rap

“Sugar in the morning, sugar in the evening, sugar at suppertime,
be my little sugar and I’ll love you all the time…”
Peppers in the morning peppers in the evening, peppers all the time,
be my little pika pot uttimo and I’ll love you all the time.
“Every time it rains it rains pennies from heaven, don’t you know
each cloud contains pennies from heaven?”
Every time it rains peppers grow pika from heaven, don’t you know
every pepper bush grows mas pikaka from birds in heaven.
“I Can’t Get No Satisfaction, but I try, try try now” Rolling Stones song.
I can’t get no boonie peppers but I try, and I try try try now….”
“Rasta Man Vibrations! Yeah! Positive, live if you want to live…”
– a Reggae album and song by Bob Marley and the Wailers, 1976.
Pika Fest Vibrations! Yeah! Positive! eat if you want to live.
“I shot the sheriff, but I did not shoot the deputy.” Bob Marley.
I ate Tinian peppers and I just love what they do to me,
though they are mampus pika they are not new to me.

And for all the marijuana lancheru in the CNMI here’s a parody of a
classic 1920’s jazz song,” If You’re a Viper” as sung by Fats Waller:

“Dreamed about a reefer five feet long, a little bit hot but not too
strong, You’ll be high but not for long, if you’re a viper, sssss….”
I dreamed about a pepper five feet long, a little bit hot, not too  strong
eat a little bit, you can’t go wrong, you’ll be pika before too long,
when you eat some boonie peppers at Tinian Pika Fest.
