Misoya: Your ramen stop in Garapan

A convenient place to stop for a hot bowl of noodles, your favorite ramen or a drink, Misoya is a small but comfortable spot squeezed in between souvenir shops, clubs and other restaurants. The well-lighted façade, clear glass windows and colorful streamers with Japanese characters outside adds to the overall attraction of the place.

If you are not hungry, you can just get a bottle of beer and sit on one of the chairs and tables outside, relax, watch passersby and drink in the mixed sights and sounds of Garapan.

I dropped by Misoya with my usual buddies to check what the place has to offer for four not-so-hungry stomachs late one night. There were no late diners except for a couple who were sipping bottles of cold beer outside.

Misoya has great Miso Ramen sets big enough for two or three people at very affordable prices.

We settled for fried rice Misoya style, soup with dumpling and a bowl of Shoyu Ramen with bean sprout, staring at the huge bowls and wondering how we were going to finish it all, but we did.

Misoya’s menu includes over 20 Ramen dishes priced from $6 to $10.50 such as Japanese Miso Ramen, Shoyu Ramen, Negi Miso Ramen, salt Ramen, Miso Kimchi Ramen, Curry Ramen, Fried noodle, shoyu roast pork, cold noodle Misoya style, Saipan style Ramen and more.

You can also order the Misoya ramen sets for $12.50 which includes rice, kimchi and beer on some orders.

If you are on a tight budget, you can still eat your favorite foods at Misoya from 6 p.m. to 12 midnight on Thursdays as they offer a discounted price of $4.50 for choices of salt, soysauce and miso Ramen, rice, meat, fried chicken, fried rice and garlic rice.

This is Misoya’s way of reaching out to its diners with affordable items on its menu as more people gather during the street market in Garapan.

Misoya is open from 11:30 a.m. until 11 p.m. For more information, call 234-3038.
