SAN Vicente’s new mural is a project of the Precinct 1 House minority bloc members of the 22nd Legislature — Angel Demapan, Joseph Leepan Guerrero, Roy Ada and Joseph Flores — as well as the Indigenous Affairs Office, the Office of the Governor, and the Governor’s Council of Economic Advisers or GCEA.
Local artist Luis Ogo paints a new mural in San Vicente.
Demapan said the new mural will feature significant elements of the village of San Vicente, Tuturam, and neighboring areas.
He said the key highlights will be the iconic San Vicente roundhouse, Laulau Bay, the canary, and the image of the village patron, San Vicente.
As part of the Marianas Village Pride campaign, Demapan said, “it is our vision to perpetuate all the things that bring pride to the community of San Vicente.”
“Our lead artist for this project is Mr. Luis Ogo from the Indigenous Affairs Office and he is supported by the House minority members, the staff from our offices as well as the IAO,” Demapan added.
Rep. Leepan Guerrero, for his part, said, “We are seeing tourism making a rebound, and this mural is an important aspect of showcasing the significance of this area.”
The project is also in line with the Public Private Partnership initiative of the GCEA, Guerrero said.
“What we are doing here is a makeover. It’s important that we upgrade,” he added.
The original mural was a project of the 19th Legislature.
