September is Children’s Eye Health and Safety Month

This, according to the Marianas Eye Institute, is because some eye conditions like amblyopia, a disorder of the visual system characterized by poor or indistinct vision, are easy to miss.

The Marianas Eye Institute said setting a food health example is way to ensure that the child enjoys a good vision throughout life.

The vision checks for children at the Marianas Eye Institute are provided free so as patients will get a clue to the condition of their children’s eyes. But these vision checks are not complete eye examinations which are recommended in order to determine any medical problem with your children’s eyes.

“Eye injuries are a leading cause of vision loss in children,” Marianas Eye Institute said. With this, they are urging parents to make sure that their kids play with toys appropriate for their age and wear protective eyewear during sports and recreation.

Back to school tips

As the new school year opens, parents are in the rush to get their kids ready for school but one very important thing you should not forget is to give your kids a complete eye exam.

The Marianas Eye Institute believes that a good vision and eye health helps enhance a student’s ability to do well in the classroom, in sports, in the playground, and even when studying at home.

The American Academy of Ophthalmology also urges families to see to it that students receive vision screening and learn about the importance of eye health and safety practices.

Visit the Marianas Eye Institute across from the 13 Fishermen Monument on Beach Road and give your children an eye examination to provide them the best chances to succeed in school. For more information, call the Marianas Eye Institute at 235-9090.
