Students enjoy Close Up Club trip

Heartim Williams, a MHS student, explained that the trip was very educative, he learned a lot about the state’s historical places and that traveling to places was a great way to learn more about it.

The Close Up program allows Close Up Club members from different schools to travel to Washington D.C, learn about the nation’s government, and meet other club members from around the world.“Two weeks in the states was really different from the CNMI,” said Williams.The club members had the chance to visit the Abraham Lincoln Memorial, Mt. Vernon and the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History. The students also went to New York due to bad weather in Washington D.C.Shanon Hofschneider, one of the members who went to Washington D.C last year said, “It was fun and I like traveling to places.”KHS student Angelo Ayuyu joined the Close up trip this year and said that “It was a great experience.”MHS student Antonio Tiples said, “The Close Up Club its a great opportunity for the students from a tiny island to go to places were history was made.””The Close Up Club is a great example for students to join clubs and its another way to stay out of trouble and it keeps the students active in school. Not only that it gives students the opportunity to visit different places but also, it educates the students about history and where it was made.”
