Teens go Apple

As they listen to music, they probably sing along too. The famous quote, “Music is Life” applies to teens because many teens do say that “they can’t live without music.”  This is many seem like an overstatement, yet, it is 100% true.

Over the years, music has become a necessity to the teens of today. It’s amazing how many teens possess an iPod.

In a class of 20, about eight would have iPods. The Apple iPods come in three different types. These are the iPod touch, iPod shuffle, and iPod nano.

Each comes with its own unique feature that makes it stand out among the rest. The following features for iPod shuffle and iPod nano are only available for the new iPods that have been recently sold in stores.

iPod Touch

The iPod touch is most common for its touch screen. Despite its touch screen, it also offers the most features. Each feature falls into three main categories: music, internet, and miscellaneous.

The features under the music category is the ability to purchase music from the Music Store, transfer your personal music into the iPod touch, control music playback on a 32GB or 64GB iPod touch with spoken commands, and shake the iPod touch to shuffle the music.

Under the internet category, you are capable of accessing the internet anytime a Wi-Fi connection is available, watch YouTube videos from the YouTube app, get directions for your destination with Maps, and send and receive emails from your email account(s).

Lastly, the miscellaneous category offers the features of recording notes, random thoughts, to-dos, and any other audios you want, get apps from the App Store, store photos and share them via email or set them as your wallpaper, customize the home screen with your favorite applications, and achieve your fitness goals with the Nike + iPod app.

iPod Shuffle

The iPod shuffles come in various colors and are small. It has a special feature called VoiceOver that tells you the name and artist of the song that is playing. Small is the new huge! Just clip on the iPod shuffle and it’ll follow you wherever you go.

iPod Nano

The most recent iPod nano that has been recently out comes with a built-in video camera. How amazing is that? Just shoot videos anytime, anywhere. The Genius acts as your personal DJ. It mixes songs that go great together. The iPod nano also comes with a built-in FM tuner that allows you to listen to the radio. Like the iPod touch, the iPod nano has a Pedometer feature that keeps track of your steps.

Several teens were asked among which of the three iPods they have and what they like most about it and this is what they said.

“I have an iPod touch and the things I like most about it is that there are many things you can do with it. You can use the internet, download apps, chat with friends, and listen to my favorite songs,” says Richard Cruz.

“I have an iPod nano and the best thing about is my music,” says DJ Humphries.

“I have an iPod touch. The thing I like most about it is that I can play many apps on it, especially Solitaire City,” says Bre Tudela.

“I have an iPod touch and the thing I like about it is that it’s reliable. There are wireless connections in most of my classes and I can access the internet. I also like it because it’s portable, stores my favorite music, and there’s a pass code,” says Victoria Matsunaga.
