The dogs competed for awards in seven different categories and the winners went home with attractive prizes.
This year’s Best in Show award went to Max, a six-year old bonnie from New Mexico owned by Divya Sharma.
“This is the first time that I entered Max in a contest and I’m so proud of him for winning the Best in Show,” Sharma said.
Max won a huge fluffy pet pillow, a dog toy and an Adams water-based flea and tick spray.
It was a fierce battle of wills, especially in the Most Disobedient category as the dogs tried to outsmart their owners and showed the three judges they have minds of their own. The crowd had a grand time laughing as the dogs paid no heed to the commands of their owners.
All the winners got assorted prizes like pet food, pet care and other pet products.
Pet Assistance and Welfare Services president Katie Busenkell said she was very happy with the outcome of the show.
“We have more participation this year compared to the previous year, and we are thankful for the tremendous support we got from the community and our sponsors,” Busenkell said.
“Everybody had a grand time witnessing the different tactics of the dogs during the show, and we will be working to have a much more colorful show next year,” she added.
Busenkell said the sponsors for show were Costco who donated nearly $800 in pet-care items, the Pew Charitable Trust, Angil Design Inc., numerous CNMI residents and private organizations.
