Armed with the goal of making the school as an extension home for kids, GMS has been instrumental in helping shape up the students for the development of their personal and educational aspects.
GMS president Mila Merjilla said the school has been increasing its enrollment every year since it’s opening in 2002.
“We opened with just eight students but over the years, we had seen a gradual increase in enrolment,” Merjilla said.
She added that the school year 2007-2008 registered 101 students and this is because of the continued support, trust, and confidence of the parents and the teachers.
At GMS, parents and students can be assured of quality education with well-trained teachers at the helm.
“At GMS, our teachers never stop learning. We keep updating them and sending them to join off-island trainings, seminars and conferences to enhance their teaching skills,” Merjilla said.
“Our teachers gain more information and updates on the latest technology in teaching and school administration, and GMS owe thanks to the Public School System for their support,” she added.
The competency of GMS manifested in many ways, like excelling in the contests like PGFC and Math Court competitions last year.
Merjilla said that winning a competition brings honor to the school.
“We owe our success with the joint efforts of the parents and teachers to achieve our common goal to turning out well-developed students.
Parent involvement
One of the secrets of success of GMS is its continuous effort to keep all the parents informed and updated not only of the activities and achievements of the students, but their needs as well.
Merjilla said that parent involvement plays a major role in the progress of the student.
“Success and progress can be best defined if both teachers and parents cooperate and work as a team for the common interest of the student,” she said.
GMS school principal Marilyn Divino believes that learning is fun, fulfilling, and meaningful adventure through the partnership of parents and teachers, and embarking on the amazing journey of education together can help the students develop well in all the aspects- physical, emotional, social and academic.
Computer Literacy
To better prepare the students for the 21st century, GMS is offering computer classes to the students.
“We would like to equip our students with computer literacy even at a very early age and we will make learning possible to make them learn eagerly and be part of the world in these modern times,” Merjilla said.
For GMS, starting young in learning how computers work is an advantage for the students.
Testimonies
The increasing number of testimonies from satisfied parents showed that GMS is going out of its way in providing activities both in school and extra-curricular that contributes toward the development of the students.
To most of the parents, GMS had been a witness to many “firsts” of their children, and this creates a special bond between them.
For parents who wish to give their students nothing but the best in education, GMS is the place to go.
Day Care programs
GMS Daycare hands-on learning is available for infants (0-12 months old), older infants, and for toddlers (18 months-3 years old). The early years are the most important years for a child’s development, and GMS responds to this need by providing special programs.
