The next giveaway and outreach event is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 24 at Payless Supermarket starting at 9 a.m.
The Green Business Initiative aims to promote greener choices, habits, and lifestyles.
One of its goals is to help reduce the amount of plastic grocery bags that end up in the ocean by promoting the long-term use of eco bags in the community.
The initiative also seeks to partner with local stores and shops to put eco-friendly items on the shelves, such as non-toxic household cleaners, phosphorus-free laundry detergent, and biodegradable paper products.
This green movement aims to raise awareness of the various health and environmental dangers associated with everyday household products.

(NMC) — Northern Marianas College is encouraging the CNMI community to attend the Administration for Native Americans’ free Project Development Training at the multi-purpose center in Susupe, Oct. 26-28, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Participants will need to register beforehand as seats are limited.
Topics include identifying and documenting specific community problems needing to be addressed, creating a work plan to meet community goals, developing outcomes and measuring overall community impact, and determining and securing funding sources needed to complete the project. The training will also include a grant writing workshop.
“The ANA has been highly instrumental in many of the college’s community projects not only by providing funding but also by offering training and other professional development opportunities to NMC staff,” said NMC President Carmen Fernandez. “We would like to encourage all interested members in the community to take advantage of the training opportunities that are provided.”
