The Manamko’ Spartan and Immortal teams, with 11 players each, were the stars of the day as close to 50 senior citizens participated in the “Fun in the Sun” event.
“In every game there’s always a winner. But it doesn’t matter as long as everybody enjoys the game,” said Rose Mondala, Office on Aging director, as she congratulated the Spartan team for winning the $300 prize money.
Walter Manglona, the office program coordinator, is setting another date for the rematch of the two teams
Last week’s game started at 10 a.m., but only two innings were completed due to the extremely hot weather.
Manglona said the manamko’ were enjoying the event but “we were also concerned about their health and safety.”
“They are very competitive and they showed all their very best,” he added.
Although, the game lasted for 30 minutes only, the manamko’ continued having fun in the sun as they enjoyed a lavish picnic spread.
