Aging Office director Rose Mondala said the participants easily completed the golf tournament.
“The tournament was very successful. Everybody showed their sportsmanship,” she added.
The event was part of the annual celebration of Older Americans Month.
This year, the Aging Center wants to give senior citizens on Saipan, Tinian, and Rota more opportunities to socialize, relax and participate in a variety of programs and activities with one another, Mondala said.
Program director Walter Manglona said the participating manamko’ from Tinian and Rota were very enthusiastic.
Everyone enjoyed the tournament which lasted one and half hour at American Memorial Park, he said.
“We may have another game before the end of the year,” he added.
Most of the players wanted to play on an open field like last year at the oval of the track and field in Susupe.
At American Memorial Park, they played “under the shade” of the trees as recommended by Park Ranger Nancy Kelchner.
This year, the championship trophy was captured by Antonia Reynolds of Rota who also won $200.
Maryalen Conrad of Saipan placed second and received the $150 cash prize, while Pedro Manibusan from Rota bagged the $100 third prize.
The cash prizes were donated by the Senior Citizens Advisory Council of Saipan while the trophies were sponsored by the Aging Office.
