PIC donates $5K to PAWS, Beautify CNMI

About 25 people, from the government, private sector, and community attended the meeting.

Pacific Islands Club Saipan, the special guest, presented a check for $2,500 to the coalition.

“Pacific Islands Club supports the efforts of the Beautify CNMI, an active community organization involved with the efforts to keep our islands clean and attractive,” said Vicky Benavente, PIC executive assistant.

Cinta Kaipat, founder of Beautify CNMI, thanked Benavente and PIC.

“We are very grateful and proud to have PIC Saipan as a valuable coalition partner. Thank you Vicky, and thank you PIC!”

As part of the coalition’s commitment to spreading the “beauty virus,” the donation will be used to help purchase trash bags, gloves and water supplies for various clean ups throughout the CNMI during 2010, and to cover other miscellaneous expenses to be identified in the future.

PIC Saipan designated PAWS and Beautify CNMI as the recipients for all proceeds from its 2009 PIC Palooza party.

The event raised $5,000 with $2,500 going to PAWS and $2,500 going to Beautify CNMI.

PAWS received its share of the proceeds earlier this month.

“We are so thankful to PIC for working with us to improve the quality of life for humans and animals alike. PIC has supported PAWS for years, without hesitation, and for this we are grateful.  Since the mid-1990s, PIC has made monetary donations to PAWS, donated Waterpark passes for the dog shows, and hosted fundraisers like a PAWS-Day-At-the-WaterPark and 2009 PIC Palooza party. PIC is an unwavering community supporter,” said PAWS.

Beautify CNMI is a coalition of concerned citizens, private groups, and government entities united to enhance the CNMI’s natural beauty and foster community pride in its residents and visitors.
