Saipan mayor’s office to host Japanese students

The KSKK, or the International Youth Cultural Exchange, group with 10 students and one chaperone will arrive on July 24. They will stay on Saipan until Aug. 31.

On July 29, the Sanpo-en delegation with 32 students accompanied by Buddhist priest Kayaki Kansho will arrive on island and will stay until Aug. 3.

Vinycia Seman, executive secretary of the mayor’s office, yesterday said the  Sanpo-en group with Kansho will conduct a memorial ceremony at the San Antonio beach for those who died here during the war.

The group will also visit the island’s war memorial sites, tourist spots and schools for a cultural exchange program.

The Saipan mayor’s office has been exchanging students with the Sanpo-en group of Nangoya  for 20 years now.

The office is encouraging families on Saipan to host the Japanese students.
