‘Stage Door’ play a huge success

The students from Marianas High School, Saipan Southern High School, and Saipan International School who made up the cast got positive raves from the audience who showed support for the shows on Oct. 27 and 28.

The play was directed by a three-student team – Dowen Jocson, Judy Tiples, and Christian Cruz with the assistance of their stage manager, Riya Nathrani.

“Stage Door” is a comedy set in the 1930s concerning a group of 16 young girls who have come to New York to study acting and find jobs. The scene unfolds in Mrs. Orcutt’s boarding house, where the girls added color and contrast to the story. One of them has no talent. One is an elderly actress whose days are over. One gives up in despair while another one got married. One goes into the pictures but one stuck to her guns. 

The cast included lead character Anne Angeles, Jesse Boyer, Rozette Bunao, Joel Chan, Celina Chow, Kay-Kay Constante, Christian Cruz,Vira Starr Cucal, Darren Demapan, Kelly Demapan, Mary Len Denora, Ray Mark Denora, Rochelle Lyn Dimapilis, Anna Rose Deleon Guerrero, Mariel Ferrer, Donna Joelle Herrera, Abigail Hudkins, Dowen Jocson, Won Joo Kim, Rosemarie Liangco, Kaiza Lucido, Jonah Mendiola, Donna Marie Monton, Riya Nathari, Abel Pellegrino, Cody Race, Chiantee Rosette, Carl John Tabucol, Judy Ann Tiples, Vivien Viernes, Matthew Wheat and Ken Yoshimoto.

Thespian Chapter director Harold Easton earlier said that “he had an easy time because students did all the work.”

The Thespians had successful staged several plays in the past like “The Secret Garden,” “West Side Story,” and others.
