According to Mingrang Kloulechad, Vice-President of the UOG Alumni Association of Palau, a special meeting with Dr. Underwood and members of the association – inclusive of all former UOG students who attended UOG for at least two consecutive semesters – has been scheduled for March 2 at 6:30 p.m. in the Palau Community College Cafeteria.
“We are cordially inviting all former UOG students to the meeting,” Kloulechad said. “It is an opportunity for former students to learn more about the current status of UOG and other developments.”The UOG Board of Regents selected Dr. Underwood on April 17, 2008 as the 10th president of UOG. He officially assumed his duties as president of UOG on May 21, 2008. Dr. Underwood is renowned in the Pacific region not only as an accomplished and successful educator but also as distinguished political representative of Guam.According to Kloulechad, Dr. Underwood’s visit to Palau is a blessing in that it would allow for the alumni association get current updates of the progress and new developments occurring at the school; and in addition would allow for the association to initiate discussions to benefit Palauan students.The UOG Alumni Association was organized in created in the early 80’s and chartered in 2005. Its current officers are: Kaleb Udui, Jr., President; Mingrang Kloulechad, Vice-President; Rose Maidesil, Treasurer; and Yumie Morishita, Secretary.According to Kloulechad, the special meeting with Dr. Underwood will also serve as an opportune time for people to learn more about the alumni association, its goals and objectives, and its membership requirements.“We will give an update of all the activities of the association,” Kloulechad said, “and we will accord participants of the meeting ample to ask questions pertaining the association or Dr. Underwood’s visitation.”All who are interested to learn more about Dr. Underwood’s visit and UOG Alumni Association of Palau can contact Mingrang at 488-3993 for further details.
