131st Covid-19-related fatality reported on Guam

HAGÅTÑA (JIC) — The Joint Information Center was notified that Guam’s 131st Covid-19-related fatality occurred at the Guam Memorial Hospital on Feb. 27, 2021, at approximately 3:04 a.m. The patient was a 36-year-old female with underlying health conditions. She was admitted to GMH on January 7, 2021, and was a known positive case.

“Jeff, Josh, and I send our deepest condolences to the family and friends who are left to mourn. Though words cannot heal the pain or fill the void left by a loved one who has passed, all of us must do what we can to stop this virus from taking another. We cannot afford to become complacent,” said Guam Gov. Lou Leon Guerrero.

On Friday, Feb. 26, 2021, one new case of Covid-19 was identified out of 137 tests performed.

To date, there have been a total of 7,735 officially reported cases of Covid-19 with 131 deaths, 40 cases in active isolation, and 7,564 not in active isolation.

Guam’s CAR Score: 0.2

The Covid Area Risk or CAR Score  accounts for the incidence of new cases, how well current testing identifies these cases, and the rate of spread. The ideal long-term goal is to sustain a CAR Score of 2.5 or less, which has been shown to correlate with very low to zero Covid-related hospitalizations and deaths.
