Vice President Elias Camsek Chin and BPS Director Norvert H. Yano said that the 17th Law Enforcement Academy is now open for hiring and class would begin on November 10 through February 13, 2009.
Any interested applicants can call 4882524 or 4888711 and contact Dianne Tajima.Requirements and qualifications for interested applicants are: Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent; maximum of two misdemeanor criminal records if any; no felony criminal records and must be mentally and physically fit.Applicants must also be drug-free. Random drug testing will be conducted throughout the academy.Yano said the three-month academy would take place at the Palau Community College campus from Mondays through Fridays, 7:30 am to 5:30 p.m.The Academy will consist of a comprehensive law enforcement course outline with classroom lectures, practical training, an officer’s survival course and daily rigorous physical fitness training program.Yano said the Fitness Training program would consist of both land and water exercises.
