The recruits had undergone 13 weeks of training started on May to August. The training entails basic police training and justice laws incorporated on the Palau National Code (PNC).
Among the recruits were from Palau Community College, Division of Fire and Rescue, House of Delegates (8th OEK), Palasia Hotel Security, Palau Pacific Resort, Koror State Rangers, Airport police, Court Marshall, Judiciary branch; Hatohobei State Government and individuals.
The trainees were originally 34 but only 26 finished the regimen. Others had withdrawn on the physical fitness training.
Yano said, only firearms training were not included on the course because they are not enforcement officers.
“These recruits can work as volunteer at the BPS and they also have a better chance to hire at the bureau.” He added.
The Law Enforcement Academy is a yearly training being conducted by the BPS.
