NINETEEN new U.S. citizens were sworn in at a naturalization ceremony held at the District Court for the NMI on Feb. 22, 2022.
The new Americans are Noreen Mendoza Adao, Aurelio Farinas Cayabyab, Luzon Bernardino Cruz, Armi Dispo Cucal, Erlina Dalupo, Egan Espinosa Encio, Ana Myrra Pineda Francisco, Loida Bocatot Gariguez, Mariano Almagro Gariguez, Jong Sik Lee, Joanne Balingit Omengebar, Antonio Suing Quizon, Elena Ramilo Quizon, Enrico Lampano Rabang, Jerome Sicat Reyes, Antonietta Aquino Romero, Dulce Olarte San Nicolas, Eden Ropeta Serafin, and Hojin Yoon.
Patricia Phelan, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services officer, made the motion in court to accept the applicants as new citizens.
Presiding over the special session, Chief Judge Ramona V. Manglona granted the motion and welcomed the new citizens to the American family.
Dr. Riya Nathrani, the 2022 Public School System Teacher of the Year, was the guest speaker of the naturalization ceremony, which also highlighted Presidents’ Day.
