MARIA Hy, Dana Manglona and Alexander Limes won $100 each in the Best of the Marianas weekly raffle draw held at the Marianas Variety office on Jan. 26, 2023.
The Best of the Marianas is a program facilitated by Marianas Variety in partnership with the Marianas Visitors Authority that aims to promote local businesses and “hot spot areas” in the Marianas.
Hy expressed her gratitude to Variety and MVA for the cash prize she received just by voting for her favorite restaurant on island.
“The restaurant I like to support is Pho Tam because they make it so easy to eat healthy. Their dishes have a lot of fresh vegetables and many of their meats are not fried. The prices are reasonable, and their hours are convenient. I am happy they opened up and want to continue to support them,” she said in an interview.
“I think the Best of the Marianas is a great idea because it allows people in the community to bring attention to local businesses,” she added.
Limes, for his part, said he will use the cash prize he received to buy groceries and pay for gas.
Manglona said she voted for Joeten Shopping Center and Pacifica Insurance Underwriters Inc.
“I support Joeten Shopping Center because, for me, it is all in one. From fresh fruits, vegetables, all the groceries I need, to my OOTD [outfit of the day] such as clothes and shoes — and it is where Latte Café is located which is where I get my daily dose of coffee. And most of all, it is locally owned. Shop local!”
She said her favorite insurance company is Pacifica Insurance because she is “rest assured!”
