65 additional Covid-19 cases; 3,227 new cases since Oct. 28

(CHCC) — Sixty-five cases have been confirmed positive for Covid-19, bringing the CNMI total to 3,518 cases since March 28, 2020. The individuals have been isolated and are actively monitored.

As of Jan. 5, 2021, there had been 2,762 recoveries, 450 active cases, and 18 deaths since March 2020.

As of Jan. 6, 2022, there were 10 individuals hospitalized as a result of Covid-19 (7 unvaccinated, 3 vaccinated; 2 on a ventilator); and 3 were discharged.

Of the 65 cases, 61 were identified on Jan. 5, 2022;  four on Jan. 4, 2022;  27 were identified via contact tracing; 29 were identified via community testing; and 9 were identified via travel testing.

The vaccination statuses of the 65 cases identified are pending verification.

A total of 199 Covid-19 vaccine shots were administered on Jan. 6, 2022, resulting in 96.1% of the CNMI’s eligible population being fully vaccinated, which affords the community more protection against severe illness, hospitalization, and death.

Since Oct. 28, 2021, there have been 3,227 new cases, of which 1,576 were identified via contact tracing, 1,558 were identified via community testing, and 93 were identified via travel testing.

A total of 519 Covid-19 tests were conducted on Jan. 5, 2022, which comprised travel and surveillance testing but did not include DFEMS testing.
