7th NSC agree to join BWA

The resolution clarifies the intent and purpose of BWA and lists all that would benefit Ngchesar as an allied state.

According to Joyce Beouch, BWA coordinator, the fact that Governor Adelbai and members of the 7th NSC have introduced and adopted a resolution proclaiming their desire to protect and preserve Ngchesar’s water sources signifies their attachment and commitment to their constituents and all of Palau as well. The 7th NSC, having ratified its intent on becoming a member of BWA, will become the 6th of the ten Babeldaob states to join BWA.Full-fledged BWA member states are Ngaremlengui, Melekeok, Ngiwal, Aimeliik, and Ngardmau.Beouch said BWA steering committee and Governor Adelbai are in the process of organizing and scheduling for an appropriate time during which Ngchesar will sign its Master Cooperative Agreement (MCA) with BWA.“We hope for all of the Babeldaob states to become members of BWA,” Beouch said. “Water, as many have said, knows no boundaries. It falls and runs on Babeldaob as it pleases – from state to state. Allying all the states allows us to put binds on water and claim it ours to protect and conserve.”
