Accused drug dealer arrested

FOLLOWING two “buy-walk” operations conducted by the Department of Public Safety-Drug Enforcement Task Force in April 2022, a suspected drug dealer identified as Jian Guang Zhang also known as “Fat Brother” was arrested.

During the task force operations, Zhang, who sold methamphetamine to two “cooperating defendants,” was in constant police surveillance through hand-held video and audio devices.

According to the task force agents, Zhang sold a total of 3.1 grams of methamphetamine for an estimated amount of $480.

The confiscated crystalline substance in Ziploc baggies sold to cooperating defendants tested positive for methamphetamine, the task force agents stated.

Zhang, 34, was charged with two counts of trafficking, and two counts of possession of a controlled substance.

The defendant appeared in the custody of the Department of Corrections at a bail hearing on Friday morning before Superior Court Associate Judge Joseph N. Camacho who imposed a $100,000 cash bail.

Assistant Public Defender Karie Comstock was appointed by the court to represent Zhang while Assistant Attorney General Steve Kessel appeared for the government.

After the hearing, Judge Camacho remanded Zhang to the custody of the Department of Corrections and ordered him to return to court on June 17 at 10 a.m. for a preliminary hearing, and on June 27 at 9 a.m. for an arraignment.
