Ai Mirai Japan plant trees with Remengesau

The group arrived in Palau through a charter flight from Japanese Airlines from Ariake Saga Airport to celebrate10-year anniversary of the opening.According to Yumiko Sugawara of Impac Tours, the group also attended the Independence Day ceremony at the KB bridge and visited Ngchesar State for cultural experience tour.The group said there are worldwide problems that need to be addressed such as global warming and poverty.It added that they wanted to start activities that can be done internationally from the citizen’s level to show that they are a part of the “global and improve our social consciousness.”The group will also want to encourage cultural friendship exchange and industries that are environmental friendly and support education and contribute to create sustainable society. The group wants to understand cultures of Palau, and Asia and South Pacific area.There are worldwide problems to be addressed such as global warming and poverty in certain areas.Sugawara said , in 2002, when “Water Forum” was held by joint cooperation of Saga Univ. and the Government of Palau, they established “Alii Palau”  aimed at having friendship and cultural exchange at citizens’ level.  The group sent a charter flight from Saga Ariake Airport which carried “Friendship group to Palau” and signed on “Agreement on Friendship Exchange” and planted trees together with local children in 2002. Then, they continue visiting Palau annually and deepened relationship and support their classes of agriculture and Japanese language.The group is also trying to promote the project which combines local fruits and vegetable gardens and tourism.The establishment of Ai Mirai Palau which is united “Japan-Sri Lanka Ai Mirai” and “Alii Palau” is to develop further activities that include timely issues of environment, agriculture, cultural exchange, education.
