Airai rabbit fish hatchery farm project breaks ground

The two projects, which are both funded by the Republic of China (ROC) 2010 Stimulus Grants, cost a total of over $800,000.

President Toribiong, ROC Ambassador to Palau Maggie Tien with state and national leaders led the groundbreaking ceremony.

The rabbit fish hatchery project costs $355,555.50. The contract to build was awarded to Fortune Investment and Development and Hanpa Construction.

Palau’s first energy-efficient public building, on the other hand, will be built on the old elementary school grounds in Yelch, close to the United States Embassy compound. It will be a two-storey structure with solar panels and electricity-friendly amenities like light bulbs and a cooling system.

The cost of the project is $400,000, and the work will be done by ESCO-TEC, Co. Ltd.

Both projects will be completed by the end of the year.
