2 Rota Health Center personnel continue to work despite expired contracts

“His work is very important and nobody could take his place,” she said, referring to one of the two, a laboratory technician.

The other staff member is a nurse.

The contract of the laboratory technician expired on July 30 while the contract of the nurse ended on Sept. 12.

Last June, five nurses were not able to return to work after their contracts with the Saipan Employment Agency & Services, or SEAS, expired.

The health center hires nonresident personnel through SEAS.

Quiming said their department had not received an advisory for these five nurses.

She could also not say whether SEAS renewed their contracts.

She admitted that the salary of the health center’s personnel hired through SEAS was again delayed in the past two paydays.

But she said the unpaid salary of the five nurses had already been paid by SEAS, which also provides healthcare personnel to Tinian.

SEAS earlier said that it was not getting paid on time by the cash-strapped CNMI government.
