THE Alpha Kappa Rho or AKRHO Humanitarian Council promised to clean, beautify, and maintain the beach area and surroundings of the Aquarius Hotel Beach in Chalan Kanoa during an “adopt-a-place” ceremony with the Saipan Mayor’s Office on Friday.
Also present during the ceremony were acting Department of Public Works Secretary Ray N. Yumul, Bureau of Environmental and Coastal Quality Administrator Eli Cabrera, Saipan Mayor Ramon RB Camacho, Rep. Roy Ada, Sen. Francisco Cruz, and a staff member of Sen. Jude Hofschneider.
“We are not here to make an empty promise, but we are going to work hard to maintain, beautify and clean this area assigned to us,” AKRHO Grand Skeptron and President Rick Ansay said.
He added that AKRHO members are eager to give back to the community on an island they consider their second home.
Ansay said, aside from providing financial assistance to those in need, facilitating feeding and outreach programs and providing scholarship grants to deserving students, AKRHO is also concerned about the environment.
“We are very excited to start this project and we will happily share our organizational plans for this area,” he said.
Mayor Camacho, for his part, thanked the organization for taking part in the Adopt-a-Place Program.
“Adopt-a-Place is part of the neighborhood task force wherein we promote a safe and clean community,” the mayor said.
He thanked AKRHO and other community organizations that help clean up the island.
“Once we clean up, beautify and fix our place, we all benefit from it,” he added.
