This house located at the Ngetkib Hamlet, Airai State is owned by Mr. and Mrs. Rinsang Rechirei, director of the Bureau of Human Resources Development.
According to Clarinda Zeigler, project manager of the PEESP, this is the third of the four houses completed under the PEESP.
The PEESP is funded by the Italian government to help Palauan people have their own model house with power saving energy.
Zeigler said the model house is energy efficient because it has ventilation and radiant barrier that absorbs heat, open windows and other materials that can help to reduce use of energy.
A minimum of $3,000 up to $6,000 subsidy is given by the PEESP through the housing loan program at the National Development Bank of Palau.
Zeigler however said the home loaner must follow the efficiency measures in saving energy being incorporated by the PEESP before building the house.
“When you do all these measures incorporated in building your home, then you can receive $3,000 up to $6,000 subsidy for your mortgage from this program.” Zeigler said.
A amount of grant is $500,000 given by the Italian government under the Energy Efficiency Subsidy Program of Palau.
