APAFS to hold series of conferences

Dan Roland, APAFS  Executive Director said that he said that the first country conference will be held in February in conjunction with the Palau Community College which will be on investment.

APAFS will also continue its annual student competition and this year instead of giving them a roundtrip air fare to the annual Pacific Regional Investment conference , a cash award will instead be given.Roland said that another country conference will be conducted in April and the topic is on the serious look into the Trust Law. Last year APAFS held a one-day investment seminar at the Palau International Coral Reef Center (PICRC). Speakers includedRoland, CIMA, Senior Vice President & Senior Institutional Consultant and Jason Miyashita, Second Vice President, both of CITI Smith Barney’s Asia Pacific Group based in Hagatna, Guam, who addressed the recent capital markets volatility. Presentations were also given by representatives from Atalanta Sosnoff (US Equities), Metropolitan West (International Equities) and Bank of Hawaii (Fixed Income). These investment advisors manage many of investment funds for the various governmental and public corporation funds. Attendees included Bilung Gloria Salii, President of the Senate Surangel Whipps, Speaker of the House Tony Bells, Delegate Mario Gulibert, PCC President Patrick Tellei, Minister of Finance Elbuchel Sadang, PPUC General Manager Satoru Adachi, PPUC Board Chairman Kione Isechal, and many other representatives from various government and private sectors.APAFS is a non-profit associated founded by, and whose current members include, many of the Palau investment funds represented at the conference.
